"Football is a great deal like life in that it teaches that work, sacrifice, perseverance, competitive drive, selflessness and respect for authority is the price that each and every one of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile."

- Vince Lombardi (Head Coach, 1960's Green Bay Packers)

Commit to Excellence

Welcome to Bishop McNally/Father Lacombe Football! This letter cordially invites each student to be part of our football program. Our program provides opportunity for students to play competitive football at an elite level, and to assist our athletes in their personal development. The goal of our football program is to achieve excellence on and off the field, therefore making our program a significant full-time commitment. Our players view themselves as leaders both on and off the field, and take great pride in their athletic achievements, studies and conduct. We stress football as an important part of your high school experience; however, football is only a part of your education. We hope you accept this responsibility with pride and look forward to our tradition as we prepare for a demanding and rewarding season.

Over the past few years, Bishop McNally/Father Lacombe has developed a strong football tradition and we as a coaching staff intend to build on this success. For the 2008 season we will have a Junior and Senior football team that will practice together as one cohesive team. The young players will learn from our coaches as well as our Sr. Players. At no time will a Jr. player make full contact with a Sr. Player as they will only work together during individual skill time. There are no cuts at any level. Anyone who is willing to commit to the development of our program will be part of our team. For a young grade 10 student entering high school, this is a great way to be a part of a team and have a significant impact within our school.

We will be holding Spring Camp practices at Bishop McNally High School on June 20, 23, 24,  & 25 from 3:45 – 5:45 p.m. for any current grade 10 or 11 student entering Bishop McNally, Father Lacombe or St. Gabriel High School. Unfortunately, current grade 9 students who will be attending either one of the three high schools in the fall are not permitted to practice at spring camp because of CSHSAA policy. Registration for the fall football season will take place online using the Bishop McNally/Father Lacombe Football Registration. Visit the Bishop McNally Website ( bishopmcnally.com ) click on Athletics, then click on football, scroll down the page where you will see the registration form. Fill out the registration page and drop it in the appropriate mailbox and you will receive a confirmation letter as well as a phone call from myself welcoming you to our program. The first full practice for the Jr. Team will start on September 2, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at Bishop McNally High School.

Equipment draw for any student athlete attending Bishop McNally or Father Lacombe will take place on August 28th, 29th, and September 2, 2008. Equipment will be distributed to current grade 9 students attending Bishop McNally from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Bishop McNally High School.  Current grade 9 students who will be attending Father Lacombe can draw equipment from Father Lacombe from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.  Two buses will be transporting Father Lacombe Football players to Bishop McNally for the first two weeks of practices. Athletes can also view the calendar on the Bishop McNally website under the title Athletics/Football.

A non refundable portion of the Fees $50.00 will be collected prior to the distribution of equipment. All cheques can be made out to Bishop McNally High School or Father Lacombe High School

We strongly encourage kids to become involved in our program as it proves to open a lot of opportunities after completing high school. A number of our former football players have or are currently playing with programs such as the Calgary Colts, Edmonton Huskies, Regina Thunder, University of Albert Golden Bears, and our very own University of Calgary Dinos. The Calgary Dinos are offering a number of summer camps for kids of all ages. Attached is information regarding these camps.
